Blue Cross Blue Shield needed to migrate its obsolete databases to Amazon Web Services. This project entailed migrating the entire database infrastructure. We created a migration strategy covering risk assessments, budgeting, and security. We determined the type of cloud—public or private—that would be most appropriate and then hosted each of the workloads being relocated. We handled communication plans for organization leaders, implementers, and cloud vendors. We determined which workloads to move to the cloud, which to keep on-premise, and which new capabilities and applications to add once in the cloud. We included mission-critical enterprise applications, data backup, and recovery, productivity, and collaboration applications. The migration was executed using Amazon Web Services to deliver the largest healthcare SaaS migration to the cloud in the U.S.

Our role was to create a migration strategy covering risk assessments, budgeting, and security, as well as the type of cloud—public or private—that we will host each of the workloads being relocated. This included migration plans cover roadmaps, scheduling, project metrics, migration tools, and services, and including communication plans for organization leaders, implementers, and cloud vendors. The Migration strategies we had to take into account were; which workloads to move to the cloud, which to keep on-premise, and which new capabilities and applications to add once in the cloud.
